Setting the Header & Footer in Your Templates
Quick heads up - if you haven't already watched the Understanding Templates inside of Layout Builder video, please do that first.
In this video, we'll look at the importance of headers and footers in templates within Layout Builder. We'll also showcase examples from some of our partners so you can see what a header / footer might look like on your site. Choose what you want, remove what you don't... it'll be simple.
A few important highlights we want to make sure you take away from this video tutorial:
- When working on your templates, the headers and footers should be first priority to avoid future structure changes.
- Headers & Footers typically require structures to be set, not just styles. For that reason, you want all structural work to be done on these 2 sections.
- Remember that each Content Type on your website gets its own Template. So if you need "Camps" and "Camp Subpages" (for example) to have a different header & footer, you certainly can.
Have a pretty cool Header or Footer that you haven't seen on other YMCA sites? Let me know! Would love to showcase your work if you're willing to share.
* Quick Tip - some of the headers and footers you'll find, and even a few in this video used as examples, are actually going to require custom code. If you run into an issue where you place a block and doesn't "look right" or look like an example you're going off of, chances are there's some custom styling happening. Just reach out to me and we'll work together to make it look great.
